New Ford Figo hatchback spied in India

Ford has begun testing the next-generation Figo hatchback in India. This is the first-ever spy photo of the car spotted in Pune, Maharashtra sent to us by our reader Pranav Athale. The Ford Figo hatchback was recently unveiled in its production version at the Sao Paulo Motor Show 2014 and is eventually expected to replace the current-generation Figo in our market. Mechanically, the new Ford Figo hatchback uses the same platform as the Fiesta sedan. In terms of engines, the new Figo hatchback could draw power from Ford’s 1.2-litre petrol engine, and the 1.5-litre DV5 turbo-diesel engine.
There is also a possibility that a new 80bhp, 999cc petrol engine, likely to be derived from the 1.0-litre EcoBoost but without the turbo, could become part of the engine lineup as well. Apart from the hatchback seen in India, the next-generation Ford Figo range will spawn two more body styles globally.  India will get the Ford Figo compact sedan along with the hatch while the South American market is expected to get a Ford Ka+ sedan.
