Hyundai i20 Wins ICOTY Award, While Harley Davidson Street 750 Gets the IMOTY Award

The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) were announced yesterday. While the Hyundai Elite i20 was crowned with the ICOTY award, the Harley Davidson Street 750 took away the award for motorcycles. This year, the shortlist of contenders saw a dozen cars and motorcycles battle it out for the the Indian automobile industry's highest honours.
 
The chosen ones were then put through a further round of assessment by the jury members at Lonavala on the December 4, 2014. After a session of evaluation followed by voting, these were the top three contenders in each category: Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City and the Harley-Davidson Street 750, KTM RC 390 and the Suzuki Gixxer respectively.
The nominated cars and motorcycles were judged on various parameters such as price, fuel economy, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money and suitability for Indian riding conditions. Hyundai won this award for the 2nd consecutive year and now has beaten even Maruti Suzuki with three trophies in its kitty. First it was the i10, then  the Grand i10 and now the Elite i20, while Maruti Suzuki has won both the awards for the Swift.
On the other hand, it was a first win for Harley Davidson as the Street 750 beat the likes of the KTM RC 390 and the Suzuki Gixxer.
