The Skoda Octavia vRS will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Powering the petrol variant is a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that is rated at 217PS of max power, while the diesel variant will be served by a 2.0-litre TDI engine that is rated at 182PS. Both engines could be mated to either a 6-Speed manual gearbox or a 6-Speed dual-clutch transmission with optional paddle shifters. The petrol variant reportedly, achieves the 0 to 100 kmph mark in 6.8 seconds, while the diesel variant is said to achieve the same feat in 8.2 seconds. The Czech automaker also claims that both engines have been heavily re-tuned to offer 19 per cent more fuel efficiency than the out-going model.
Design-wise, the Octavia vRS looks similar to its stock sibling, except for a number of sporty updates to bring out the differentiating factors. For instance the new Octavia vRS gets a new bodykit, bold vRS badging at the back, honeycomb-shaped air intakes on the re-designed front grille, bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a black diffuser at the back, chrome plated exhaust tips, a rear spoiler and red painted brake callipers. Also, the D-Segment sedan will be offered in a choice of new 17-, 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Octavia vRS has been decked with sporty front seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and sill plates and leather wraps on the handbrake and the gear knob. The infotainment system and also the navigation system have been updated.
Expect a price tag ranging between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 21 lakh on the Skoda Octavia vRS, when it debuts in the Indian market by the end of 2014.
