India-made VW Polo launched for Rs 8.58 lakh in Mexico

Mexico boasts of being the largest export market for Volkswagen India and hence gets a special attention from the German brand. In an effort to reach more customers in the country, Volkswagen launched their premium hatchback, Polo, for a price of Rs 8.58 lakh. Already exporting the Vento to the Mexican markets, the car will be produced the VW's Pune plant.
For the Mexican market, the Polo will get only one trim level which comes packed with 15-inch alloy wheels, ABS, dual front airbags, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, foglights and an integrated music system capable of playing FM/CD/MP3/AUX-in/Bluetooth. On the exteriors, the car will get only minor makeover, as compared to the Indian model. The headlights will get a dual barrel arrangement, with the exclusion of the chrome strips from the foglight area. The alloys and the headlights are like the previous generation Polo of India.
Under the hood, the car will get a 1.6 litre four-cylinder petrol engine which can produce a maximum of 105 hp, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.6 litre petrol engine is the same one, which got discontinued from Indian markets, due to lack of sales.
