Nissan is adding Atlanta to its no-cost public charging for two years program just in time for Black Friday week. The automaker announced yesterday the “No Charge to Charge” program for Atlanta, a program that offers no-cost access to more than a dozen quick chargers spread throughout the Greater Atlanta market for two years with the purchase or lease of a Leaf electric car.
The dozen or more of quick chargers are of the type that can charge a LEAF from zero to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.
According to Nissan, Atlanta has been the number one LEAF market since mid-2013 due to a variety of factors, including an available Georgia state tax credit, single-occupant access to high occupancy vehicle (HOV) and high occupancy toll (HOT) lanes and a number of major companies who now provide workplace charging for their employees.
Nissan currently offers “No Charge to Charge” in the 13 following markets: San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Oregon, Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Chicago. By mid-2015, Nissan said it plans to offer the “No Charge to Charge” program at LEAF dealers in at least 12 additional U.S. markets.
“Atlanta is America’s biggest market for Leaf, and access to free public charging can enhance the convenience of driving an electric car and motivate additional consumers to make the switch to Nissan Leaf,” said Brendan Jones, director, Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. “As the top-selling electric car brand, Nissan is actively working with key partners to ramp up charging infrastructure in Metro Atlanta to make more charging options available for the thousands of area LEAF owners.”
