Audi India's next product in the country would be the A3 Cabriolet which it intends to launch it in December, next month. Audi A3 Cabriolet would come loaded with a few added features over the A3 sedan, albeit sans roof. It would be a 4-seater convertible sports car where the roof would open and close automatically in a time of sub 18-seconds while driving up to 50kmph.
The A3 Cabriolet was showcased by the German luxury automaker at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, alongside the regular A3 sedan. The convertible would be lighter in weight than its previous generation model due to extensive use of ultra-high-strength steel and generous usage of aluminium. It would have a more conventional soft top in place of a complex metal folding roof, which subsequently would result in its light weight structure.
Inside the cabin, the interiors would be borrowed from the A3 sedan, except for the addition of a pop up infotainment screen for the Audi MMI and the Bang and Olufsen sound system. Also, the convertible version is expected to boast built in wind deflector and neck warmers for the front passengers.
Audi A3 Cabriolet might be launched in both petrol and diesel avatars, like the regular A3 sedan. The petrol variants would in-house a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged motor which would churn out 177 bhp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. If launched, the diesel version would get powered by a 2.0-litre 35TDI engine.
