Tata Motors has unveiled its 1.2T Revotron engine, which will power its upcoming cars - the Zest and Bolt. According to Tata, it's the first 1.2 litre turbocharged MPFi engine in its class. It produces 90PS and 140Nm of peak torque at 1750-3500 RPM. Notably, it's also the first engine in its class to offer multi-drive modes, namely eco, sport and city.
This is done through advanced engine management systems by digitally controlling vehicle performance and emissions. Wizcraft, which conceptualised the activation campaign for the engine and created the Revotron Lab concept offering an experience zone offering interactive elements for customers to understand the benefits of the new engine.
Apart from the Lab, the experience zones include a Binural Sound Zone, a first for India, a Revotron challenge game, which is already available on iOS and Android app and an interactive touch glass. Tata with the help of Wizcraft international is rolling out Revotron Labs in 15 cities.
Coincidentally, this launch is happening in the lead-up to the launch of the Tata Zest, which is scheduled to come to the market next month and will be powered by the very same engine. The idea behind the campaign is to raise awareness about the technology and capabilities of the engine as Tata vehicles currently are not known for their performance and technology.
Tata claims the Revotron engine was conceived with help of global players like Bosch and Honeywell. Commenting at the launch, Ranjit Yadav, President, passenger vehicles, Tata Motors said " The Revotron 1.2T has been developed by us with inputs from renowned global players like AVL, Bosch, Honeywell, Mahle, INA in the area of combustion, boosting, friction, and calibration, to deliver class leading performance. The Revotron 1.2T will power our upcoming cars, the Zest and Bolt."
