All New Skoda Superb - What to Expect

Skoda, the Czech automaker, recently teased the next-gen Superb ahead of its global unveiling at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show in February, 2015. The all-new Superb will be based on Volkswagen's MQB platform, which is claimed to have been tweaked for better comfort, fuel efficiency, performance, eco-friendliness, safety and connectivity.
It might share mechanics with the new VW Passat (B8), and get some new options for engines and transmission. Officials say that the new Superb is done with final tests, and is ready to be launched in the UK by mid-2015. Despite being 20mm longer and 50mm wider in dimensions, the new Superb manages to shed extra flab. It is 75Kg lighter than the existing model. Moreover, the 80mm longer wheelbase ensures more space for passengers. The updated model is likely to offer a boot space of 625-litres, which can be further increased up to 1,760-litres by folding the rear seats.

The Skoda Superb has always been known for its top-notch quality, advanced equipments and spacious cabin, and the new-gen model is expected to be a step ahead of its predecessor in these departments. Coming to the engines, the new Superb is expected to continue being powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine, but it might be tuned for extra power. It will deliver a maximum power of 170bhp, equivalent to the Volkswagen Passat.
However, the 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic DSG transmission options will remain same. The new-generation Skoda Superb is expected to hit Indian shores by late 2015 or early 2016.
