Renault Showcases Their Two-Cylinder, Two-Stroke Diesel Engine

Renault Showcases Their Two-Cylinder, Two-Stroke Diesel Engine
Renault has introduced a variety of new technologies and powertrain components at their Innovations@Renault event in Paris.
There was a new electric motor, a three-cylinder dual fuel/LPG engine and even the HYDIVU, which is the company's hybrid diesel engine for LCV's. But the one that we are interested in the most is a turbocharged and supercharged two-cylinder, two-stroke diesel engine.
Yes, you read that right and we are interested in that because Renault has been eyeing the small car segment in India for a long time. According to the people at Renault, this small engine is capable of producing anywhere between 47-65bhp and that is sufficient power for a small car. W
ith torque figures in the area of 112-145Nm, one can understand, that the car will have the punch it requires. The people at Renault added that the engine is highly efficient but say that the performance needs to be improved before they would consider using it to power their smaller models.
