New Mahindra Scorpio Registers 12000 Bookings Since Launch

New Mahindra Scorpio has registered around 12,000 bookings, since the time of its launch in the country on September 25 2014. An Autocar report states that over 6000 units of the SUV were delivered to the buyers in the month of October, which was also first full month of sales for the Scorpio facelift. Mahindra, in a tie-up with leading e-commerce portal Snapdeal, facilitated the buyers to book it online at a token amount of Rs. 21,000, which is first for a car in India.
Dr. Pawan Kumar Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, has stated that October would witness the best ever sales of the Scorpio SUV. The company opened the advance bookings for the next gen Scorpio on September; but, however, the first two days were reserved for existing Scorpio owners who wish to upgrade or give a shot to the new iteration of SUV. Mahindra made several commendable changes in the new Scorpio, making it more striking, advanced and up-market than ever. It was blessed with an array of contemporary features both inside and outside such as LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, automatic climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.
Under the hood, except for the entry-level variant S2, all the variants has a 2.2L mHawk diesel motor which generates a decent power output of 120 bhp in accordance with a peak torque performance of 280Nm. The entry-level variant S2 in-house a compartively larger yet less powerful 2.5L m2DiCr mill which delivers 75 bhp of top power and 200Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are coupled with a improved 5-speed manual transmission. Also, the new Scorpio has an all-new ladder frame chassis and new suspension system for better ride quality. Mahindra hasn't launched the new Scorpio with an auto transmission but the company has plans to roll it out around next year as it has been caught on testing.
