Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4X2 AT Advance bookings begin

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 4X2 AT would be identical to the existing 4X4 manual variant. It wouldn't bear any cosmetic or mechanical changes, except for the newly introduced 5-speed auto transmission. The 4X2 AT variant would be powered by the same 2.5L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged CRDI diesel motor which is seen in the current 4X4 variant. The maximum power and peak torque aren't going to differ either from the 4X4 variant as they would be 178 PS and 400Nm, respectively. A 5-speed automatic gearbox would transfer the power to the rear wheels of the SUV. The company feels that the introduction of a new variant with automatic gearbox would increase the sales of Pajero Sport SUV and the buyers would have an option of automatic variant.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a world renowned SUV in terms of off-roading and performance. However, in India, it hasn;t quite taken off yet due to the company's poor aftersales services and limited dealer outlets. With the introduction of this automatic variant, the Pajero 4x2 AT would lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour, Ssangyong Rexton, and Toyota Fortuner. The company is expected to price the 4x2 AT variant below the 4x4 variant which is currently priced at Rs. 23.50 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi).
