DC Avanti expected launch in India by NOV 2014

India’s famous design firm, DC Designs have prepared the country’s first indigenous supercar called the Avanti that was officially presented in concept form at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. Two years hence, we got to see the production version of the DC Avanti at the same automotive convention in the capital.

Powering the made-in-India supercar, is the Ford-sourced 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine that is rated at 261PS of max power and 366Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The four-cylinder DOHC engine is Euro V compliant and is capable of being further upgraded to the upcoming Euro VI norms, in case the DC Avanti finds international takers. DC claims the 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in under seven seconds.

Visually, the Avanti supercar has retained most of the design aspects that were seen on the concept form such as the dipping nose, the trapezoidal shape air-intake on the front bumper, pronounced wheel arches and the high shoulder line. What’s changed though is the headlamp assembly, fog lamps and ORVMs, which now feature integrated indicators. The supercar rides on 19-inch tyres and is brought to a halt via the 330mm ventilated disc brakes, both at the front as well as the rear.
The model we hear, is expected to be pushed down the production line at DC’s upcoming facility in Gujarat that will churn out around 3,500 units of the Avanti per year. Expect the DC Avanti to be commercially launched before the end of 2014 with a price tag ranging between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh.
