BMW M4 Convertible expected launch in India by NOV 2014

BMW has revealed the first official images and details of the all-new 2015 BMW M4 Convertible that is slated for its official presentation at the upcoming 2014 New York Auto Show later this month. This is the third new car that BMW has unveiled this year internationally, after the new M3 sedan and the M4 coupe.

Design-wise, the M4 Convertible has received more aggressive styling and features over the hard-top 4-Series with a new front bumper, a heavily contoured bonnet and larger front and rear fenders. Also, the M4 gets new 18-inch alloys, coloured brake callipers and new mirror caps. The three-part metal roof is able to open or close in about 20 seconds and can be operated up to speeds of 18 kmph. BMW claims that the new roof has been significantly improved for noise insulation.

At its heart, is a 2,979cc, in-line, six-cylinder, twin-turbochaged engine that is rated at 435PS of max power and 550Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-Speed M DCT transmission. The 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in 4.6 seconds with an electronically limed top speed of 250 kmph.

Like all BMW’s, the M4 Convertible has been installed with various EfficientDynamics fuel-saving technologies, such as the start-stop system, brake energy regeneration and on-demand operation of ancillary units. Driver assistance systems include, the Active M Differential as standard to enhance traction and directional stability, particularly when accelerating hard out corners. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an electronically controlled, limited-slip differential.

The cabin features electrically-adjustable and heated leather seats with recessed head restraints and integrated seat belts. There’s also the M-badged steering wheel, chrome trim and the trademark three-colour M stitching. Other notable features include, Park Distance Control, Folding exterior mirrors and heated front seats.
