Tata Indigo eCS Launch on January 2015

Tata Indigo eCS

You might have seen our earlier reports regarding the facelifted Indigo eCS and just as expected it has been revealed. The Indigo eCS has been facing tough competition from the Maruti Dzire and more recently the Honda Amaze. The eCS in its last generation was getting old and lacked the features and premium feeling of its rivals. The new one however is a big improvement in many areas but the one most apparent is in its looks. The changes to the 2013 eCS include new front bumper, smoked headlamps and a new grille.

There is also a generous dose of chrome with a chrome strip at the rear. We like the headlamps which add aggressiveness to the styling and you canot miss the amount of chrome up front to give it a more premium look. You will also notice the new 14 inch wheels. Inside the new eCS gets a new instrument panel and new upholstery which makes the cabin even more airy than ever. There are more beige bits in the cabin which lifts the cabin ambience for sure.

You will also notice that the odd three spoke steering is gone replaced by a more classy four spoke one. There is a new audio system and Bluetooth also. The eCS might have a very spacious and airy feel cabin (for its size) but as far as the design and quality goes, it finds it hard to match up to a similar priced hatchback. Step inside and the first thing that strikes you is the lack of any cubby holes for your wallet, cell phones and other knick knacks. The Indigo eCS might be the smallest sedan in the world but it does have a good enough boot for weekend trips which has more space than most hatchbacks in this price point - all 380 litres of it! The 69 bhp CR4 diesel engine has a max torque of 140 Nm at 1800-3000 rpm and delivers 25 kmpl (ARAI certified). It has got new Duo Float Suspension which enhances load distribution and a new NVH package.

The new cable linkage gearbox also works well and is light. The updates have helped the Indigo eCS a lot and it is much better value for money now though we have to say that competition is quite tough.
