Renault KWID expected launch in India by APR 2016

The quirky and eccentric looking Renault KWID Concept that made its first public debut at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show was officially green lighted for production recently. The production-ready avatar of the Renault KWID will reportedly, be presented at the 2016 Delhi Motor Show and will hit the showrooms by the end of 2016.

Dimensionally, the Renault KWID would measure sub-4 metre in length, so as to be able to reap the excise duty cut benefit and be able to rival the current market leader Ford EcoSport in the lucrative compact crossover segment. The Concept measures 3,500mm in length, and we expect the production version to to be definitely longer than that, but shorter than the Renault Captor - the smallest crossover in company’s portfolio at the moment. The compact SUV could also be offered with both a 4-door and 2-door configuration.

The KWID Concept was designed with inputs from company’s design studio in India as well as the global headquarters in France. It sports a very futuristic and perky off-road lifestyle SUV look with its large chunky wheels and deep treaded off-road tyres. Of course, we expect for the quirky styling of the Concept to be toned down and subdued on the production version to make it look more realistic. However, the French automaker has confirmed that the ‘KWID’ name would make it on the production model as well.
