SsangYong has got off to a great start in India with the Rexton and Anand Mahindra (Mahindra owns SsangYong) believes this new product could be the next step for SsangYong in India. What you see here is the brand new Korando Turismo or popularly known as the Rodius. This is a big luxurious MPV and something that might work for its unique appeal in India.
Called as the Korando Turismo in some select markets, it is a gigantic leap in terms of styling and now looks much better. This is a bit like the Mercedes R-class and is built for luxurious transport with a vast amount of room inside. Going back to the looks as we said earlier it is huge improvement. The Turismo’s front design has the Korando family look with black-bezel projection headlamp and a hood character line which adds presence. In terms of rear design, the tailgate has a character line and horizontal rear lamps plus the rear bumper. Overall this is a huge MPV and you cannot mistake it for anything else on the road- something that is bound to go down well with us.
The luxurious MPV will have seating options available in nine, ten and eleven-seat configuration plus also has 3,240 liters of cargo space. The interior has also been changed and seems to have the steering wheel taken straight out of the Rexton! Elsewhere this seems quite a busy cabin but it is well styled and packed with a lot of features. It should be as this MPV will not be a Innova rival instead will be priced just below the Rexton occupying the Rs 15-17 lakh bracket.
Engine wise the Korando Turismo’s e-XDI200 LET engine makes 155ps at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 36.7kg·m/1,500-2,800rpm. In terms of transmissions, two options are available: a 6-speed M/T and E-Tronic Mercedes Benz 5-speed A/T. The Korando Turismo has a multi-link rear suspension system and electronic 4WD system. After Mr. Mahindra's enthusiastic response regarding the Korando Turismo, we are sure we can get to see this in India soon!
